beer and some more beer please
Last night we went to join the hordes at Earl's Court for the Great British Beer Festival (actually we almost turned round when we saw the queue, but I'm glad we didn't). It was quite crowded, but fortunately we managed to grab some seats at a table during our first drink, and then took turns at going to bring back stuff.
We had half pint glasses so that we could try more different beers, though I noticed that some people were getting halves put into their pint glasses, and getting slightly larger measures sometimes. Anyway we got through a nice variety of different beers, and some curry, and some cheese.
Amusingly, the entertainment for the evening was M3 classic Whitesnake - a band made up by some of the early Whitesnake lineup who were fired. We didn't go over to the stage, but we recognised a few of the songs.
Overall the festival was a weird experience. I've been to a few exhibitions at Earl's Court before, and this was like a cross between those and a giant pub. It also seemed quite expensive - we had to pay for entrance and a glass, and then the beer was pretty much at pub prices, and the food was at exhibition prices. I was glad to have gone to see what it was like, but I'm not sure if I would again.
Next,
theora gets to have a chance to drink some wine, she's had enough beer for the time being.
