harlequins
I'm at my parents now, so I have dug out my old Harlequin miniatures. I discovered I have even more than I thought I had, because I had forgotten about a trade I made with one of my gaming club a while back. So I have 55 Harlequin figures.
Under the new official rules I mentioned, you can't have more than 30 Harlequins in an Eldar army, and most sensible players wouldn't take that many1. But I like the models. I started wondering if I can use some as real Harlequins and others as substitutes for some of the other Eldar troop types, and that way build a valid army2 out of them. My current thought is that some can be the old lesser type of Harlequin - 'Mimes', and count as Storm Guardians, while to fulfil the HQ requirement, one can be a 'High Avatar' counting as an Autarch, or a 'High Warlock' counting as a Farseer. Either way it's still not a very balanced army, but would make a legal force for playing games with.
1They are an expensive (in points) specialized unit, and block you from taking other interesting choices.
2A legal WH40k army requires at least two 'Troops' units and one 'HQ' unit, neither of which the Harlequins are.
